Willie Jean Newton, was born October 1, 1948, to Eddie Lee Sullivan and Eva Nunn (Jackson) in Waelder, Texas. She accepted Christ and was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. Willie Jean received her formal education in the San Antonio Independent School District attending Booker T. Washington Elementary and graduating from Brackenridge High School.
