Thelma M. Pinkston was born February 2, 1938 in San Antonio, Texas to Rev. Montgomery Dixon and Beauty Lamkin Dixon. She is the third child to this union. She graduated from St. Peter Claver Academy in 1955 and also, graduated from St. Philip's College School of Nursing in 1958. She was employed at Robert B. Green County Hospital.
