Robert JaRome Gipson was born November 7, 1956 to the late Efren C. Gipson Sr. and the late Odessa Sherman in Charleston, South Carolina. Robert received his formal education in the Refugio Independent School District, where he graduated May 29, 1975. Robert had a desire to service his country and went on to join the United States Navy.
