Obituary for Marvin Springs

Marvin Springs was born on September 6, 1933 in San Antonio, Texas to the late John Allen and Lillian Haywood Springs. He accepted Christ at an early age at Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev, James Byrd. Upon his father becoming a minister Marvin joined Good Samaritan Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev John Allen Springs. Later in life he became a member of Westridge Park First Baptist Church under the leadership Rev. C. J. Bias and Rev. E. L. Hewitt, Jr. Marvin received his education in the San Antonio Private School System attending St. Peter Claver School where he was very involved in sports. He entered the workforce and was employed at Rosemary Catering and the San Antonio Country Club where he was employed for twenty-five years as a Professional Bartender. He then entered the world of entrepreneurship doing what he loved, which was owning a catering company alongside his uncle and brother. Marvin loved playing dominoes, watching sports and being a devoted and loving father and grandfather. Marvin met and married the love of his life Johnnie Mae Perry Springs in 1963. This union was blessed with six children and remained as one until his demise. Marvin was preceded in death by his son, Marvin Springs Jr. and his parents, John Allen and Lillian Haywood Springs. He is survived by devoted wife, Johnnie Mae Perryman; children, Marvene (Lewis), Gary ( Nallie), Tery and James (Theowana) Springs all of San Antonio; fifteen grandchildren; two brothers and a host of many other relatives and friends.
