Obituary for Julia Bennett

Julia Loera Bennett went to be with the Lord peacefully in her home at the age of 83 on February 17, 2022.

Born in Monterey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico on the 20th of September 1938, she was preceded in death by her father Francisco Loera, mother Julia Gutierrez, daughters Georgina (infant) and Rosalba Cunningham. She is survived by her children Maribel Bennett, Arturo Bennett (Patricia), Arnulfo Bennett (Barbara Jean), Georgina Bennett-Fletcher (David†), Adalberto Bennett, Julie Villalobos (Tomas), her sister Santos Lugo, 20 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs Bennett came to the United States when she was 18 where she settled in Port Isabel, Texas. There she married, raised all of her children, and became a naturalized citizen. She faithfully attended Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. She retired from the Point Isabel School District in June 2000 after a 25 year long career. Throughout the years she made countless friends that now extend through generations of families in the community. For the past 10 years she resided in San Antonio where she enjoyed the sites, but most of all her family often attending school functions for her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and supporting their extra curricular activities. In this the family confirms, "That was Mami. Loving, caring, and always there for us.
