Obituary for Hettie Denise Coleman Rodgers

Hettie Denise Coleman (Tootsie) was born on December 24, 1955 in San Antonio, Texas to Roy J. Coleman and Bernice Hettie Coleman. She received her education from Edison High School. She was an accomplished Volleyball player and Track star who also loved to roller skate as a hobby. Hettie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of ten years old at St. John Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. J.C. Bailey. At an early age, she became a mother to her one and only daughter, Jacquelyn (Jackee). Her daughter was her pride and joy. She worked endlessly to provide the best opportunities for her. Hettie was a Teacher's Aide at Bethel Day Care Center for more than 10 years. Due to her sudden loss of eyesight, she was forced to unexpectedly retire. However, her love for children continued throughout her life because she embraced the opportunity to raise her niece, Bernice and nephew, Tony as her own, as well as other children in her community. She devoted her life to be a disciple of Christ by sharing God's goodness with anyone she came into contact with. Hettie loved to be a blessing to others and never expected anything in return. Hettie was the life of every party. She loved to dance and sing and always had fun doing so. She truly embodied the age-old adage, "live, laugh, love" in every way. To know her was to love her. Hettie was preceded in death by her parents, Roy J. Coleman and Bernice Hettie Coleman; her older brothers, Wylie Coleman and Winston Coleman; younger sister, Vanitee Kearse, and two nephews: Royal Willrich III and Eddie Kearse Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Jacquelyn Denise Coleman (Jackee); younger brother, Bernard Coleman (Ricky); four sisters, Sherry Crockett, Persia Burton
(Tiny), Lura Willrich (Dee-Dee), and Shular Coleman (Cookie); nieces, Latonya, Sherry, Natasha, Jasmin, Frantasia, Vanitee, and Bernice; four nephews, Tyrone, Ricky, Herman and Tony; several great nieces and nephews, Lorenzo, Trey, Kynzlee, Yasariya, E'Rijanay, Jayvon, Deshawn, Diane, Denisha and Deanna; a Goddaughter, Veronica and great granddaughter, Ayani and a host of friends that loved her.
