Gene Franklin Godfrey was born May 5, 1939 in Ocilla, Georgia. He was reared by his mother Clenton Bivings Surgent and Eugene Godfrey. Gene completed his formal education and went on to attend College for two years. Gene soon entered the United States Air Force serving his country. Gene loved music and was a Musician, playing for churches around San Antonio.
