Freddie James Evans was born May 21, 1941 in Sheppard, Texas to Iona Payton and Charlie Evans. Freddie accepted Christ at a young age at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Sheppard, Texas, under the leadership of Pastor Young Blood. He was very active in church and grew up attending Sunday School. Freddie received his formal education attending Dixon High School in Sheppard, Texas.
