Doris Marie McFarland was born July 1, 1943 in Waco, Texas to Robert B. and Hazel Todd Flowers. The family moved to San Antonio, Texas in 1952. She attended Booker T. Washington Elementary and Douglas Jr. High. She went on to obtain her GED and attend St. Philips College CEDA Program, earning her LVN License in 1970.
