Obituary for Doris L. Hodge

Doris “Little Doris” Price-Hodge, 87, ended her earthly journey on April 7, 2023. She was the devoted wife of the late Lee Andrew Hodge, Jr., and sweet loving mother of six children: Dale, Gail (Deceased), Doretha, Dreike, Troy and Toy Hodge. She was a bundle of joy born as the oldest child and daughter to Doris Admiral and Cloretha “Curley” Elizabeth Crayton- Price on July 17, 1935, in Granger,Texas. Doris attended Crispus Attucks School in Granger with high honors during grade school through junior high, until the family moved to Temple, Texas, where she graduated from Dunbar High School. Upon graduating from high school, she moved to San Antonio where she graduated from St Philips College with her nursing degree, and she worked at Santa Rosa Hospital for many years until she retired. Our mother was a kind, caring and giving person who always put the needs of her family before her own. She was a strong woman who faced every challenge in her life with courage, grace and dignity. Our mother was a source of inspiration to all of us and she will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she touched. Doris was indeed a virtuous woman of GOD, who was always there making sacrifices for us as children growing up; whether we needed help with our homework or just a shoulder to cry on; and even in our lives as adults whatever problems we created, she was there even during her illness she was still there giving out godly counsel. She was a woman of strong faith and did her very best to instill in us the true values of love and grace, the importance of family, hard work, doing the right thing toward each other as siblings, and others outside our family whether they deserved it or not. But most importantly, she taught us to always keep our faith and put our trust in GOD in all things no matter what the situation or circumstances looked like. Yes, she was a fiercely dedicated mom to all of her children, a true role model and we call her “blessed and highly favored”. We thank GOD and give Him praise for allowing her to be our mom. Doris was preceded in death by her husband Lee Andrew Hodge, Jr., daughter Gail Hodge, Parents Doris Admial and Cloretha “Curley” Price, and a host of close family members and loved ones. She
leaves behind to cherish her memory her children: Dale (Jewle), Doretha Keno, Dreike (Tiffany),Troy (Lakhita), Toy (Monique) and her sister Cloretha Price-Perry; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. All who loved her dearly will truly miss her smiling face, laughter and joy.
