Curtis Lampkin, was born August 31, 1929 to Ertis Lampkin and Beautie Mae Lampkin in Luling, Texas. He accepted Christ at the age of fourteen year old with membership at First Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas, under the leadership of Rev. Claude Black. He received his formal education in the San Antonio Independent School District, attending Douglas Junior High School and attending Phillis Wheatley High School, graduating Class of 1950. Curtis was a great football player and ran so fast they called him, “Zipp”.
