Alberta Johnson was born October 25, 1944 to Elder Williams, Sr. and Viola Bacey Williams in Gonzales, Texas. She accepted Christ at a young age at the Memorial Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas under the leadership of the late Rev. J. L. Sanders. She attended and graduated with honors from the Phyllis Wheatley High School class of 1962.
